Saint Hyacinth Academy Ballet Folklorico

Ballet Folklorico – Mexican Folklore Dance

Dear St. Hyacinth Parents,

My name is Maria Aguilera and I teach Kindergarten Readiness. I started a Ballet Folklorico dance group at St. Hyacinth Academy about four years ago. I started performing and dancing ballet folklorico in 1997 with my husband and daughter in Okinawa, Japan. It gives me great pleasure to share a beautiful culture and educate the families in another form of music and dancing. The dance group is only for St. Hyacinth students and their parents.

Dance practice is held at 3:15 until 4:30 in the school hall on Thursdays for preschool thru 3rd grade and on Fridays for 4th thru 8th grade. Parents interested in joining the adult dance group will meet at 4:30 on Fridays. There will not be any dance practice on minimum days.

If your child is not picked up by 4:30 he/she will be signed into Extended Services (ES).

Our outfits are ordered through Mariachi Connection located in New Mexico and Texas. Please see me before ordering your child’s outfit. The girl’s outfit consists of a two piece Jalisco traditional Mexican dress, bloomers, black thick heeled strapped shoes, hairpiece and a practice skirt. The boy’s outfit consists of a black Mexican charro sombrero, black pants, black boots, white long-sleeve buttoned collared shirt, black bandana, sash and tie.

If you have any questions please call me at home: 951.791.1196 / cell: 909.215.3944 / classroom: 951.654.7594. Thank you. Mrs. Aguilera
